Hänellä on erittäin hyvä ajoitus, taito jonka varaan tuleva ammattilaisura on helppo rakentaa.

Vuonna 2009 tehty haastattelu.
A interview with Sanny Dahlbeck
Sanny runs down the long stairs to the gym, he has an electric guitar on his back,
he is breathing heavily and his dark hair is all over his face. He is a few minutes late to our meeting due to a failing subway train, it is not his fault but still he apologizes to us for him being late. Humble and dedicated was my first impression, one hour and allot of questions and laughs later I had learned that sometimes
first impressions are spot on.
Sanny posses a natural charisma that is way beyond average, actually allot about Sanny is way beyond average. He is the current Swedish MuayThai -67 Kg Champion, he holds a prefect 15-0 fighting record and he can handle a guitar like a rock star,
did I mention that he is only 18 years of age? Armed with a big smile and the youthful taste of life Sanny takes a seat on a bench in the gyms locker room, he politely answers my questions and he does it with a modest but still well deserve confidence.
To get to know Sanny a bit better I ask him to tell us about how he came in contact with the sport of Muay Thai.
Sanny – I started out with kick / Thai boxing when I was about 13, I lived in Spain at that time and I just joined a random gym down there for fun.
It was nothing serious and I did not understand my potential in the sport at all but, I did fight one fight and I won it by knockout one minute in to
the first round. Me and my family moved back to Sweden when I was 15 and this was also when I joined the Slagskeppet Muay Thai club. Apparently the trainers instantly saw potential in me and also gave me the confidence to believe in my own ability. And so now for the past three years I have been training very seriously and I love every part of it.
Besides MuayThai shorts Sannys gym bag also contain books and note sheets, he studies music at a special music high school and his education
is very important to both him and his trainers. Actually so important the he doesn’t get to fight if he gets a bad grade. When I heard of this I wondered
how does this affect Sanny and what is most important to him, music or MuayThai?
Sanny – *Laughs* MuayThai 100%, I love music but MuayThai is my passion and what I want to focus on, but I am also well aware that I need a good education
that I can fall back on if necessary. Like a year ago it was difficult for me to get all parts together, social life, school and training but then I realized that it all comes
down to knowing what you need to do. To make it all work I need to have the same discipline in life that I have in the gym. Now when I schedule and plan ahead I get
more free time and I also do better in both School and at the gym. Also it helps me a lot to know that I have support from my family and friends and
they are always there for me when I need them.
There is no question that Sanny is talented, he has come further in three years then most fighters come in their whole career, and when I speak to his trainer Peter Lööf he tells me about the unlimited potential that Sanny possesses. But is that all good or is there a down side to this hype that surrounds him?
Sanny – I actually love it, makes me feel very special * laughs*. As long as I can live up to the expectations that I and my trainers have for me its all good.
You might think that I feel a lot of pressure on me but I don’t, I do this for me, not anyone else. I know that I can become much better and I still have a lot to learn,
but I have time on my side and I don’t feel any need to rush things. I just enjoy the moment and I like the fact that I am evolving in to a better fighter.
Okay so we know that Sanny has a lot of talent and that he is aware of it himself but what exactly is it that Sanny needs to improve and what are his strongest assets today?
Sanny – If you ask some of my previous opponents they would probably say my left hand, it is the hand that has knocked them out * laughs*.
I hope that doesn’t sound arrogant but that is the honest truth. Since I am a southpaw fighter I have a lot of strength on the left side of my body
but I am not much weaker on the right side. Besides the power I think that I am pretty all round and have a good movement in the ring. And for some reason I have always been able to predict my opponents next move. I takes me about 30 seconds to learn a fighters fighting style and this gives me a big advantage in the ring.
When it comes to the question of improvements Sanny`s traningparter and promotor of the battle of Sweden event steps in and says.
Michael – Sanny you got weaknesses but its my and Peter`s job to make them disappear by hard work in the gym. I can tell you this though, I have worked with a lot of fighters and with Sanny I see a big difference. He listens and understands, he is not afraid to test new things and if he likes a new technique he makes sure to master it. His movement and footwork is great and he always finds new angels to attack from. He has the total package, all we need to do now is to make the package even better.
In November Sanny will be travelling to Bangkok with the Swedish MuayThai national team and participate at the IFMA World MuayThai Championships.
What does he think about his chances and how will he handle a possible loss considering his perfect 15 -0 (8 KO ) record.
Sanny – I always aim to win no matter what fight it is, but I don’t take anything for granted. There will be a lot of great fighters there and I find it very interesting
to see how I will stand against international competition, but off course I want to win the gold medal *laughs* . If I loose I loose, its not a big deal as long as I am
satisfied with my own performance. I have come close to looses before, like the fight against David Teymur in the Swedish Championship final.
If I had lost that fight I would have raised his hand in the sky and still felt very proud over my own achievement in the ring that night. In this sport all fighters receive
losses sooner or later, it will surly happen to me as well and I can handle it.
So, here we have a young, talented, clever and ambitious fighter, I instinctively start to think in terms of K-1. Sanny has all of the attributes needed for the K-1 Max scene but is that what he wants?
Sanny – Yeah *laughs*, I definatly want to fight in K-1, but I am a bit worried about going a fight without the classic Thai music in the background,
I have never done that. Or, well a few months ago I fought at a MuayThai event in Kristianstad and between the second and third round the event DJ played techno music
and he forgot to turn it off as the third round started. This resulted in both me and my opponent got totally stressed out and just shook our bodies to the rhythm of the music and it looked hilarious *laughs*! They actually stopped the fight until the DJ put on the Thai music again * laughs* . But yes, I would love to fight in K-1, there are a lot of fighters there that I look up to and Gevorg Petrosyan is just amazing. Perhaps in a few years when I have a bit more experience and fights behind me I could take him on *laughs* .
As I am running out of questions my cameraman Oskal sneaks in with one of his own. He ask Sanny what the trainers and the Slagskeppet gym means to him. The emotional expression on Sannys face when he hears the question lets us know exactly what he is going to answer.
Sanny – Everything! For me the trainers and the friends at the gym is like a second family. This is my sanctuary and second home. I can have a bad day or feel down but when I am here nothing can touch me. I love this gym and I am proud to be a part of it. The trainers took me on three years ago and without them I would not be where I am today.
The interview is over, I pack down my pen and paper and shake Sanny`s hand. He has made a big impact on me and as I shake his hand I get the feeling that I am holding the hand of a future superstar. Moments later I am standing in the gym watching Sanny as he kicks and beats the pads that Michael is holding for him. There is about 30 other pupils in the room and I notice that they all stand still and watches the 18 year old boy with the unlimited potential.
Sanny Dahlbeck voitti 2011 Ruotsin mestaruuden tyrmäämällä kaikki kolme vastustajaansa.
Kaksi tappiota. Mielenkiintoista kyllä nähdä miten Sanny pärjää EM-kisoissa ja saako Hynynen revanssin.
David Teymur on napannut siis kovan päänahan. Mitäs seuraa Teymur edustaa nykyään? Kuulemma lähti Stockholm Muay Thaista.
Ruotsissa on kyllä kova taso!

Sanny bloggailee valmistuvansa Uzbekistanin MM-kisoihin.
I have now officially signed the contract for glory world series!
So now I officially fight for glory!
Sanny ottelee Krausia vastaan Glory 3:ssa 3.11. Jenkki Hollenback kohtaa Petrosianin.
“…and the other one was last year when I knocked Pasi Luukkanen out with a spinning elbow”
Sanny kertoo kahdesta parhaasta hetkestään ottelijana (Eka oli ensimmäinen Ruotsin mestaruus 17-vuotiaana)
Jotenkin tuntuu hienolta että Sanny arvostaa tuota voittoa noin paljon (Olisin mä siltikin suonut Pasin voittaa sen tietenkin)
Aika jalat maassa kaveri tuntuu olevan vieläkin vaikka tota “up and coming superstar” juttua vieläkin piisaa selostajilta ja nettisotureilta.
